Reigning Champions

The big event is nearly upon us – and the Opening Ceremony looks like being a cracker!

Headlining the show will be top rock band Reigning Days.

Recently signed to the new Marshall record label (yes ‘the’ Marshall the ones you always see in huge stacks behind huge bands…) the boys have been racking up the plaudits with their recent single releases Empire, Friendly Fire and Renegade climbing high in the Kerrang charts.

The three piece outfit made up of lead vocalist and guitarist Dan Steer, vocalist and bass player Jonny Finnis and Joe Sansome on drums.

They’ve been likened to Muse ( they’re from the same bit of South Devon – small world init?) meets Royal Blood, with genuine song writing skill and a great live show. They have supported the likes of Bon Jovi, Feeder, The Feeling, Wilson, and Metronomy (ooh – another South Devon band:), as well as playing Glastonbury and Woodstock Festival Poland (the biggest open-air festival in Europe).

They have also headlined the new music stage at the Matthew St Festival in Liverpool as a result of blowing everyone away at The Cavern a while back.

People say:

“…an incredible band. I ’m a massive, massive fan .” James Santer, BBC Introducing

“Supple, layered rock with a taste for the epic. Pulsating electro shadings subtly counter the dazed guitar and transcendent lyric” The Daily Mirror

“Absolutely love it. This is a Janice Loves”. Janice Long BBC Radio 2

Oh – and top chef Heston Blumenthal’s a big fan too.

Kerrang actually like them a lot. Quite right too.

Here’s the band doing a storming version of Iron Maiden’s Speed of Light for an album of covers for Kerrang.

There’s a nice little Taekwon-Do continuity link: bass player Jonny was in Greece last year for the Euros in Thessaloniki – between tours he decided to drive our Euros Cab down to the competition and back again for us (until it broke down of course).

Full circle. He will be re-united with the cab next Wednesday.

Jonny & Joe popped in to wish local South Devon ITF England squad members good luck (break a leg doesn’t seem appropriate!) and look forward to seeing everyone at The Echo Arena next week.
