Personal Appearance by Ringo at the UK Open

We don’t know if he can play the drums…

but he can do Taekwon-Do (a bit).

The UKTA UK Open Championships is always a big event – but this year it was made even more special by the appearance of not one, but TWO world famous celebrities.

The surprise and welcome return home for Chimu, the ITF England team penguin mascot – previously feared kidnapped – but thankfully back, unharmed, after what seems to have been more of an impromptu holiday.

Even more of a surprise was the sudden appearance of his big brother, Ringo, who not only made time in his hectic schedule to stop and chat (well, nod a bit anyway) and pause for selfies and numerous cuddles with kids and adults alike, but also perform pattern Chon-Ji with a large group of excited kids. I think they’ll need a bit of work on their timing before they’re troubling anyone for a top spot in team patterns – but great fun.

And to be honest it was mostly Ringo’s fault. Enormous flipper web-feet don’t make pivoting etc too easy…

He arrived at the event in the chauffeur driven taxi – not just any taxi, but our famous Liverpool 2017 Euros Cab. The globe-trotting taxi had pride of place for the whole two days right outside the entrance to The Guldford Spectrum Leisure Centre.

Hopefully the REAL Ringo (Ringo Starr ) will get wind of his slippery black and white namesake and pop along to The Liverpool 2017 event to watch some top quality ITF Taekwon-Do at the Echo Arena next year!!

Maybe we should have a train (probably a tank engine) wrapped in Euros Graphics too!  Paul McCartney had a hit with ‘Jet’ so, maybe we could have a euros airplane too….?

Perhaps a submarine? (doesn’t have to be yellow)

Anyway, Ringo will be making personal appearances wherever possible – so make sure you catch him for a selfie. Post it on our Facebook site [ ]! He’s easy to bribe – just lob him a herring or something.

If you were at the UK Open and had your picture taken with Ringo check out the gallery and you might be there!!
